PBS is subject to data security protocols imposed by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) – we are an accredited agency of ACIC. Personal information is highly sensitive and in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles, PBS collects, uses, retains and discloses information according to law. Data is encrypted when transmitted and stored. This means the data cannot be read. Access to PBS systems is subject to two factor authentication requirements. This means users must create their own passwords, subject to password rules AND these passwords are not known or available to anyone else. PBS systems are independently tested by IT security organisations' and subject to penetration tests. These facts mean your data is managed securely.

As required by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), a minimum of three ID documents must be provided from the following categories. See the below table for what ID documents are accepted:

- 1 x Commencement of Identity

- 1 x Primary Use in the Community

- 1 x Secondary Use in the Community

- 1 x Self Captured Photo

ID Documentation to include the following information:

- Full name

- Date of birth

- Photograph

If none of these documents contains a photograph, you must submit a passport style photograph certified by a person listed in Schedule 2 of the Statutory Declarations Regulations 1993. If ID documents you are using are in a former name, evidence of the name change must be included in addition to the four ID documents. These can include:

- Change of name certificate issued by Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, or

- An Australian marriage certificate issued by a state or territory (church or celebrant-issued certificates are not accepted)

Commencement of Identity Document (1x)

- full Australian birth certificate (not an extract or birth card)

- current Australian passport (not expired)

- Australian Citizenship Certificate.

- Australian visa current at time of entry to Australia as a resident or tourist (* A Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) record may be provided. If you are a New Zealand citizen on a Special Category Visa, you can request your VEVO details from the Department of Home Affairs via their website)

- ImmiCard issued by Department of Home Affairs (previously the Department of Immigration and Border Protection) that enables the cardholder to prove their visa and/or migration status and enroll in services

Primary Use in the Community Document (1x)

- current Australian drivers licence, learner permit or provisional licence issued by a state or territory, showing a signature and/or photo and the same name as claimed

- current passport issued by a country other than Australia with a valid entry stamp or visa

- current proof of age or photo identity card issued by an Australian Government agency in the name of the applicant, with a signature and photo

- for persons under 18 years of age with no other Primary Use in Community Documents, a current student identification card with a signature or photo.

Secondary Use in the Community Document (1x)

- certificate of identity issued by DFAT

- document of identity issued by DFAT

- convention travel document secondary (United Nations) issued by DFAT

- foreign government issued documents (for example, drivers licence)

- current Medicare card

- enrolment with the Australian Electoral Commission

- security guard or crowd control photo licence

- evidence of right to an Australian government benefit (Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs)

- consular photo identity card issued by DFAT

- photo identity card issued to an officer by a police force

- photo identity card issued by the Australian Defence Force

- photo identity card issued by the Australian Government or a state or territory government (this may take the form of a Working with Children or Vulnerable People card or a government issued occupational licence)

- Aviation Security Identification Card

- Maritime Security Identification card

- credit reference check

- Australian secondary or tertiary student photo identity document

- certified academic transcript from an Australian university

- trusted referees report

- bank card or credit card (without recording the payment card number/s)

- current shooters or firearms licence showing a signature and photo (not minor or junior permit or licence)

Precise Background Services is an accredited body of the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). The ACIC provide Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks (NCCHC) to accredited bodies. The NCCHC result will detail all disclosable criminal history entries that are recorded for an individual in any Australian police agency. All Australian Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks are: • Recorded in compliance with spent conviction legislation • Include any current pending charges that have been initiated by the police • May include traffic convictions. ACIC processes 95% of police checks within 10 business days, noting that: 70% of all checks are completed within 48 hours, 25% are completed within 10 business days as they’ve been referred to one or more police agencies because an individual’s name is similar to a person of interest. The remaining 5% may take 15 business days or more. Please note that neither you or Precise Background Services can predict if your check will be delayed and as such, we suggest you place your order at least 10 business days before you require your result.
